The influence of business education in the VET curriculum is decisive as through the experiential entrepreneurship programs, the implementation of the internship in partner companies but also in mini start ups that operate within the school such as the cafeteria for the school staff, the school catering , the cooperation with the Municipality of Agios Dimitrios for the support of the social food and the municipal vegetable garden and the conduct of seasonal bazaars students prepare for the transition, develop social and communication skills, discover and exploit their potential, take initiatives and improve both their self-image and their soft skills.
School Cafe
For the seventh consecutive year, our school startup "cafeteria" operates in the school, on the 3rd floor with the brand name Aerostato/Balloon. In the school cafe the students of the Cooking laboratory are trained and practiced on the following educational objectives:
- ORDER RECORDING: Students are trained on taking orders from their customers and recording them in the order block, using special photo forms and practising on the appropriate professional terminology.
- ORDER EXECUTION: With the support of visualized instructions (step-by-step recipe photography), students learn how to prepare a full range of coffees, drinks, infusions, juices and snacks.
- SERVING - CONSISTENT ORDER DELIVERY: Students learn how to deliver the order to the right person, the right way to serve the tray, using the appropriate terminology.
- FINANCIAL TRANSACTION: students learn how to manage money, make change and use the computer.
- REVENUE-EXPENSES-PROFIT-LOSS: They learn that each product has its own value, and as a business the school cafe have its own income - expenses.
- SOCIAL TRANSACTION - CODE OF CONDUCT: Students learn to communicate with customers accurately, to be helpful, smiling and polite.
- CLEANLINESS - SPACE HYGIENE: Students learn how to clean their working place, workbenches, cafeteria tables inside and outside the laboratory, coffee makers, refrigerator and every utensil used daily.
- CLEANLINESS - PERSONAL HYGIENE: Students learn to follow the rules of personal hygiene and clothing.
EEEEK Catering
EEEEK catering is an educational program focused on senior students in the context of the Cooking Laboratory internship, aiming to acquire social and pre-professional skills and enhace on their social intergration at work. It is a virtual school startup that deals with the preparation of food for events organized inside and outside the school for school staff, students, parents and collaborators. It operates as a simulation of a real catering business and trains students in the fields of food preparation, work planning, event organization, serving, cleanliness, hygiene and safety at work. On-the job training of the program allows students to gain experiece working in situations very similar to those they will encounter on a daily basis. As future employees they will use the same tools and equipment they need for their job while being guided by experienced trainers.

School Bazaars
Every year at regular intervals, mainly during Christmas, Easter and at the end of the school year, we organize bazaars in collaboration with the 6 workshops of the school and the parents' association. During the bazaars each laboratory distributes, promotes and sales products, which have been created by students in order to present their work during the school year and self-finance the school workshops. The bazaars are about activities inside and outside the school and contribute significantly in cultivating students' communication skills.
